Forzest

How to Use

Take Forzest (Tadalafil) when needed, up to one time a day, or as directed by your doctor. Each dose should be taken orally with a full glass of water, at least half an hour before planned sexual activity. This medication can be taken with or without food. Remember that Forzest (Tadalafil) can help achieve an erection only when sexual stimulation occurs. You will not get an erection simply by taking the pill.

Overdose

Potential symptoms of a Forzest (Tadalafil) overdose may include:

• Chest pain
• Nausea
• Irregular heartbeat
• Feeling light-headed or loss of consciousness

If you think you have taken too much of this medication, contact your local poison control center or the emergency medical services immediately.

Missed Dose

Forzest (Tadalafil) is only taken when needed, therefore you cannot miss a dose. However, if you take this medication regularly on a daily basis and you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to take the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.

Notes

Do not take Forzest (Tadalafil) for any other purpose than prescribed by your physician. Do not share this medication with others, since they may have a problem that is not effectively treated by this drug. Use of this drug does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases (e.g., HIV, Hepatitis B, gonorrhea, syphilis). 

Storage

Store Forzest (Tadalafil) at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. KEEP THIS AND ALL MEDICATIONS OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

Important note

Precautions

If you have certain conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take Forzest (Tadalafil). Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have or have had:

• A heart disease or heart rhythm problems
• Recent history of a heart attack (within the past 90 days)
• Recent history of a stroke or congestive heart failure (within the past 6 months)
• Angina (chest pain)
• High or low blood pressure
• Liver disease
• Kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis)
• A blood cell disorder such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma or leukemia
• A bleeding disorder such as hemophilia
• A stomach ulcer
• Retinitis pigmentosa (an inherited condition of the eye)
• A physical deformity of the penis (such as Peyronie's disease)

Do not take Forzest (Tadalafil) if you have been told you should not have sexual intercourse for health reasons. Stop using this medication and get emergency medical help if you experience a sudden loss of vision.

Although Forzest (Tadalafil) is not intended to be used by women, this medication is not expected to be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Although this medication is not intended for use by women, it is not known if Forzest (Tadalafil) passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breastfeeding a baby.

Drug interactions

Do not take Forzest (Tadalafil) if you are taking any of the following medication:

• A nitrate such as nitroglycerin (Nitrostat, Nitrolingual, Nitro-Dur, Nitro-Bid, Minitran, Deponit, Transderm-Nitro, others), isosorbide dinitrate (Dilatrate-SR, Isordil, Sorbitrate), isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur, ISMO, Monoket) and others
• Nitrates found in some recreational drugs such as amyl nitrate or nitrite ("poppers")
• An alpha blocker (other than tamsulosin (Flomax) 0.4 mg once a day) such as doxazosin (Cardura), guanadrel (Hylorel), prazosin (Minipress), terazosin (Hytrin), alfuzosin (Uroxatral) and others.

Taking Forzest (Tadalafil) with any of these medications may cause very low blood pressure, possibly resulting in dizziness, loss of consciousness, a stroke or a heart attack.

Before taking Forzest (Tadalafil), inform your doctor of all other medications you use for erectile dysfunction, or if you are using any of the following medications:

• Conivaptan (Vaprisol)
• Diclofenac (Arthrotec, Cataflam, Voltaren, Flector Patch, Solareze)
• Doxazosin (Cardura), prazosin (Minipress), terazosin (Hytrin)
• Imatinib (Gleevec)
• Isoniazid (for treating tuberculosis)
• Rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane)
• An antibiotic such as clarithromycin (Biaxin), dalfopristin/quinupristin (Synercid), erythromycin (E.E.S., EryPed, Ery-Tab, Erythrocin) or telithromycin (Ketek)
• An antifungal medication such as clotrimazole (Mycelex Troche), itraconazole (Sporanox), ketoconazole (Nizoral) or voriconazole (Vfend)
• An antidepressant such as nefazodone
• Heart or blood pressure medication
• HIV/AIDS medication, such as amprenavir (Agenerase), atazanavir (Reyataz), darunavir (Prezista), delavirdine (Rescriptor), fosamprenavir (Lexiva), indinavir (Crixivan), nelfinavir (Viracept), saquinavir (Invirase, Fortovase) or ritonavir (Norvir)
• Seizure medication such as carbamazepine (Tegretol), phenobarbital (Luminal), or phenytoin (Dilantin)

This list is not complete and there may be other drugs that can interact with Forzest (Tadalafil). Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Forzest (Tadalafil), refrain from sexual activity and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately:

• An allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue or face, hives)
• Chest pain or irregular heartbeat
• Dizziness, nausea, or angina (pain, tightness, discomfort, numbness, or tingling in the chest, arms, neck or jaw)
• Swelling of the ankles or legs
• Shortness of breath
• Prolonged or severe dizziness
• A prolonged (lasting longer than 4 hours) or painful erection

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Forzest (Tadalafil) and talk to your doctor if you experience:

• Headache
• Indigestion
• Back pain
• Muscle aches
• Flushing
• Stuffy or runny nose
• Temporary blue tint in vision or difficulty telling the difference between the colors blue and green (uncommon)

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
